Multi Lentil Garelu !!! Wholesome goodness !!!


Multi Lentil Garelu...
This recipe calls for a mix of lentils ie..urad, chana , and Moong dals , that makes this is a wholesome dish..
Many of you are aware of Medu wada, Moong wada , bread wada etc but this is totally a new entry for the majority ..
  This is a traditional telangana(A state of A.P) recipe made on the eve of Sankranti/ pongal..its dunked in Kheer n eaten for authentic feel...but tastes great without kheer as well..

A real good combination of dals, whole wheat n touch of heat from Chillies makes it one of a kind ..


Ingredients
  • ½ cup chana dal
  • ½ cup moong dal
  • ½ cup urad dal
  • ½ cup rice flour
  • ¾ cup wheat flour
  • 8 to 9 gr.chillies
  • 5 to 6 sprigs of coriander 
  • 2 sprigs of curry leaves 
  • 2 inch ginger piece
  • Water as required
  • Salt to taste 
  • Oil for deep frying

Method
  • Dry grind the dals coarsely and add rice flour,,  mix them thoroughly ...
  • Next Add enough water and make a thick dough like batter ...
  • Now set this aside covered for at least 4 to 5 hours ...
  • **As we are using dals directly without soaking this step is a must to soften the dals ..
  •      Next make a fine paste of ginger and green chillies in a blender....
  • Add this paste to the batter along with salt, chopped curry leaves, coriander leaves and wheat flour ....
  • Mix this well  , add water if required ...but pls keep in mind that the consistency of the batter should be thick, if the batter is runny u will not be able to shape them n fry...
  • Now the batter is ready so for the frying process...
  • Meanwhile start heating up the oil in a kadai or frying pan ..
  • Apply a little oil on to the ziplock bag and onto u r fingers ...next take a golf sized dough, place it on the greased ziplock ..
  •  Pat it with u r fingers to form a poori shape and make a hole in the centre... 
  • Now lift it up carefully n drop in the hot oil..
  • *Be cautious n drop it along the edges of the pan..do it slowly as we don't want a splash of hot oil...please play safe Ladies !!...
  • Fry until golden on both the sides...
  • Drain it on to a paper towel..

Garelu are all ready to serve plain / with green chutney / ketchup/ Kheer.....
